The United Kingdom withdrew from the European Union on January 31, 2020. Today the EU consists of 27 member countries. The EU’s members are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. 83,3 procent av de röstberättigade deltog i folkomröstningen. Bland de politiska partierna stödde officiellt Socialdemokraterna, Centern, Kristdemokraterna, Moderaterna och Folkpartiet ett medlemskap medan Vänsterpartiet och Miljöpartiet var emot.
